problem / expectation

Tecton Service, a big coating company in the cruise ship industry, wanted a unique artwork for their Düsseldorf main offices something that reflected their connection to the World Dream cruise ship, whose exterior they helped bring to life. They requested a large, handcrafted painting of the ship, inspired by the original artwork by Jack Tsai, as a visual statement and memory piece for their office.

I created a 2.80 m × 80 cm acrylic painting on wood panel, capturing the ship’s bold colors and dynamic composition This painting inclueds; Acrylic techniques with layered depth Slight 3D texture to echo the materiality of ship coatings Night-glow pigments, allowing the ship to subtly illuminate in the dark, a playful nod to its presence on the sea The goal was to translate the spirit of Jack Tsai’s design into a handcrafted, interior-friendly painting while keeping the composition recognizable and respectful to the original.

This painting was a reconstruction of a floating landmark into a static painting.

I worked from reference materials and color studies to maintain the balance of the ship’s lively gradient colors, translating them into brushstrokes that feel both smooth and energetic.

Here are reference visuals from the ship itself.
The original artwork is by Jack Tsai.

Here are some close-up's from painting.
